5 Ways to Get Your Website Listed Locally

If you're doing business locally, you should make your website easy to find by people searching for your product or service in your local area.

1 - Make Your Website Easy to Find

Include on every web page in your website, your business name and cities where you do business. This must be in 'text' form (search engines will not read an image or logo graphic). The best places to include your city location and business name is at the top and bottom of every page.

2 - Register With Local Search Engine Directories

a) Yahoo local listings   http://listings.local.yahoo.com/

b) Google:   http://www.google.com/local/add/

c) MSN local search: https://llc.local.live.com/BusinessSearch.aspx

d) ASK local:   If you submit to InsiderPages (Insiderpages.com/advertiser) your information is included in ASK: http://city.ask.com/

e) Merchant Circle www.merchantcircle.com/corporate/landing/signup.html

f) InLocal www.inlocal.com/

3 - Register with Industry- and Professional-Related Directories

Find specialized directories where you can get your website and name listed. To find directories specific to your profession or industry, type your keywords for your industry and the word 'directory' in to Google.

For example, if you are a Financial Advisor in Vancouver, BC, Canada - type several variations in Google search:
Financial Advisor Canada Directory
Financial Planning Canada Directory
Financial Advisor BC Canada Directory
Insurance BC Canada Directory
