A-1 Tell Your Story

1) Who is the owner(s) of the business, and what is their story and history? How did the owner get to where he/she is today?

2) Why did the owner start this business?

Why is this important? The reason is that most people prefer to interact with people, not faceless corporations or soulless machines. They are interested in the human factor and want to know the story behind the business.

The test of a GREAT story: Your story can be presented to a stadium of people and most people will sit riveted to their seats, because you verbally hit them over the head, and "WOW" them.

For example, you can start out by giving them factual information, such as a market statistic, or talk about a common problem that your products and services can overcome.

Tell them something that they may be unaware of, something that a person would respond to by saying, "WOW! I didn't know that..." Often you can find interesting statistical information and market research to embellish your story and make it into a riveting tale.

90% of this presentation about your business, and background story, should directly relate to the people listening to your story.

Small-business branding is about persuading your target market to see you as the preferred choice and associating your image with success.
